Q. When is my trash pick-up date?
A. Your collection day will be on Fridays.  Garbage, recycling and yard waste will be collected on the same day.  Separate trucks will be around to collect trash, yard waste and recycling items.

Q. What is the cost of trash and yardwaste stickers?
A.
 Cost of regular trash stickers are: $2.36 each; yard waste stickers are $1.80 each. Senior Sticker prices are  $2.12 for refuse and $1.63 for yardwaste

Q. What about Holiday Schedules?
A. Holiday collection will be made with a one-day delay following a holiday.  (For example, Labor Day will cause pickups to be delayed one day; Friday pickups will be on Saturday.)

Holiday schedules are observed for the following holidays: New Years Day; Memorial Day; Fourth of July; Labor Day; Thanksgiving; and Christmas

Q. When should I have my garbage out and what will be picked up?
A. Trash:    Refuse from residents should be placed out by 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection.  Plastic bags or garbage containers should not exceed 32 gallons and 50 lbs in weight.  One (1) sticker must be attached to each bag or container (looped through the handle.

Large Items:    Large household items such as: discarded furniture, beds, tables, etc. will be collected on your regular pickup day.  All items require one (1) sticker attached to each item.  

Moving Boxes:    Please flatten and put in bundles of 10 with one (1) sticker attached to each bundle.

Building Materials:    Construction materials from do-it-yourself projects such as lumber, gutters, carpeting, paneling, etc. must be cut into 4 foot lengths and bundled or put into approved containers not to exceed 50 lbs with one (1) sticker attached to each bundle.  For large amounts, an estimate is required.  

Appliances:    Household appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers, dryers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and water heaters require one (1) sticker attached to each item.  Call Waste Management at 1-800-796-9696 to arrange pick-up.  

Heavy Items:    Large heavy automobile parts will not be collected.  Also, concrete, gravel, dirt, or similar material will not be collected.  


Medical Products:    Syringes used for home medical purposes may be disposed of in rigid plastic containers.  "Sharps" containers designed for syringe disposal can be obtained through your local pharmacy.  

Household Hazardous Waste:   There are  special collection sites and various dates that are scheduled for household hazardous waste collection.  Please call Waste Management West at 1-800-796-9696 for locations and dates.

Recyclable Preparation Tips:   

1.    Place newspapers at the bottom of the bin or in paper bags on the top of the commingled items or along side the bin to prevent paper from blowing out of the bins

2.    Crush plastic bottles and jugs, as well as aluminum cans.  


Q. When does yard waste pickup begin and what will be picked up?
A. Yard Waste Collection begins April 1 and ends November 30.  Yard Waste will be collected on your regular pickup day.

Yard Waste Stickers are $1.80

Grass and Leaves:    Grass clippings and leaves must be placed in 33 gallon biodegradable paper bags not to exceed 50 lbs.  Each bag must have a prepaid sticker attached.  (This will not hold true for leaves on designated Spring and Fall leaf pickup.)

Brush:  Must be tied in bundles with degradable jute twine which are no more than 4 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter and not to exceed 50 lbs with one (1) sticker attached to each bundle.  Branches must not exceed 4 inches in diameter.  (Stickers will not be needed on designated Spring and Fall pickup).  Brush collection is collected along with regular Friday pickup.  

Sod:    Will be taken with a sticker attached to each refuse bag or container.  Not to exceed 32 gallon or 50 lbs.  

Seasonal Leaf Collection:    During the Spring and fall seasonal collection period, residents may rake their leaves to the parkway for free pickup by Waste Management West.  Residents are asked to to rake your leaves to the parkway (not in the street) by 7:00 a.m. Monday of your designated collection weeks.  The collection will alternate weeks between the North and South sides of Winfield with the Union Pacific Railroad as the dividing line.

Q. Where can I buy Senior Citizen Stickers?
A. Senior Citizen garbage and yard waste stickers are available at a 10% discount.  By simply providing identification that includes your date of birth you can receive discounted stickers by mail directly through Waste Management, Inc.
at 1-800-796-9696 or Winfield Seniors can now purchase discounted stickers at the Village Hall. Purchase is limited to ten stickers and proof of residency and age 65 is required.   Senior Sticker prices are  $2.12 for refuse and $1.63 for yardwaste

Q. Where can I buy Recycling Containers?
A. Recycling containers can be purchased at the Winfield Village Hall.  Pay at the Village Hall and your bin and lid will be delivered to you within one to three business days.

20 Gallon Bin - $10.50; add a lid for $4.50.  /  33 Gallon Bin - $36.00, which includes the lid.
