The Village of Winfield supplies Lake Michigan water to its residents and requires a refundable deposit of $65.00 for all new water and sewer users. The required deposit is to be paid at the Village Hall at the time the account is established and service is started. The deposit will be refunded following a final reading of your water meter by the Village of Winfield Water Operator and will be credited to your final bill.

Water & Sewer Utility Bills

Water and sewer users are billed every month. Utility bills are processed on or after the 14th of each month for the prior month's usage and are due on or about the 5th of the following month.  The Village has completed the Automated Meter Reading Program which now allows for accurate and timely readings of the water meter. Users no longer need to submit meter reads to the Village.  Please contact the Finance Department at (630) 933-7100 for questions on this program.   <top

Payment of Utility Bills

Payment for utility services is due to the Village on or before the date indicated on the utility bill. Failure to make payment to the Village by the date due will result in a ten percent
(10%) penalty charge assessed to your account on the entire amount due. Bills can be paid at the Village Hall, by mail, on the internet using E-Pay on this website, or by depositing your payment in the drop box located in the rear of the Village Hall.

Be a Leak Seeker/Conserve Water

The following tips are simple steps that can be taken to conserve water and prevent problems of water loss through leaks.

  • Check your toilets for leaks.  Put a little food coloring in your toilet tank.  If, without flushing, the color begins to appear in the bowl, you have a leak that should be repaired immediately.

  • Put plastic bottles in your toilet.  To cut down on waste water, put an inch or two of sand or pebbles inside each of two plastic bottles to weigh them down.  Fill them with water and put them in your toilet tank, safely away from operating mechanisms.  In an average home, the bottles may displace and save ten or more gallons a day.

  • Check faucets and pipes for leaks.  Even the smallest drip from a worn washer can waste 20 or more gallons a day.  Larger leaks can waste hundreds.  Leaks waste water 24 hours a day, seven days a week and often can be repaired with an inexpensive washer.

  • Water lawns and gardens during the cool part of the day.  Early morning is generally better than dusk since it helps prevent growth of fungus.

Did you know that a continuous leak from a hole the size stated below will result in a water waste of the number of gallons listed?

Did you know that a regular garden hose will allow a flow of as much as 650 gallons of water per hour-Don't forget to turn it off!

1/4 inch hole-1,181,500 gallons wasted in three months
1/8 inch hole-296,000 gallons wasted in three months
1/16 inch hole-74,000 gallons wasted in three months
1/32 inch hole-18,500 gallons wasted in three months
