Public Safety Committee

All appointments of members to the Public Safety Committee shall be made by the Village President subject to a confirmation vote of the Village Trustees, and shall consist of Three (3) Village Board members, the Winfield Emergency Management Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator, and two (2) Village residents or representatives of Winfield businesses/institutions.  The Village Manager and Police Chief or their designees shall staff the Committee and have non-voting status. The Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Committee shall be appointed by the Village President and shall serve for a two (2) year term or until a successor is duly appointed and qualified.

In order to ensure maximum coordination of public safety responses and planning, the following agencies, organizations, and firms will be invited to name ex-officio, non-voting members to the Committee:

1.       Winfield Public Works Department

2.       Elementary School District 34

3.       St. John’s School

4.       School District 200

5.       Winfield Fire Protection District

6.       Central DuPage Hospital

7.       Winfield Park District

8.       Winfield Public Library

9.       Winfield Township; Milton Township; DuPage County, and or State of Illinois emergency management or public safety representatives.

Meetings: The Committee shall meet from time to time on the call of the Chairman, provided, however, that the Committee shall maintain at least one meeting date per quarter.   No meeting will be called unless proper notification has been made in accordance with state statute.
