PROTECT MY TOWN
Winfield joins communities all across the state in strongly opposing the State of Illinois proposal being considered that will divert a 50% share of municipal income tax revenue to address the state’s budget problem. These funds are used to provide basic municipal services like public safety, road repairs and maintenance, infrastructure improvements and snow removal. If approved, this proposal would force municipalities to either raise local taxes or eliminate essential services to make up for this revenue shortfall. It is important for residents and local business owners to let our State officials know you want our local income tax share to remain in Winfield. Visit www.ProtectMyTown.com to contact your legislators urging them not to take our tax dollars.
The Village of Winfield will lose $450,000 in General Fund revenue!!!!
Winfield Appoints New Police Chief
The Village of Winfield is pleased to announce the selection of a new Police Chief with the appointment of Warrenville Deputy Chief David Schar as its top law enforcement official at the May 7 Village Board meeting.
This appointment follows current Winfield Police Chief Stacy Reever’s retirement announcement late last year. The Village contracted with public safety consultants REM to assist with recruitment of a highly qualified candidate, and an extensive selection process helped the Village narrow the field of 50 applicants to finalist David Schar.
Village Manager Curt Barrett described Chief Schar as “a great fit for the challenges of this demanding position. We are pleased to add his expertise and enthusiasm to our team.” A 25-year veteran of the Warrenville Police Department, Schar has most recently served as Deputy Chief of Operations since 2011. His prior positions included Field Training Officer, D.A.R.E. Officer, Patrol Supervisor, Evidence Technician Supervisor, Bicycle Patrol Supervisor, Administrative Sergeant and Deputy Chief of Administrative Services. He is scheduled to be sworn in as Winfield’s new chief at the May 21 Village Board meeting.
